Reader Kelly asked Samsung why Rapid mode wasn’t working in Windows 10:
Kelly:
“Just an FYI, I contacted Samsung on why Rapid mode doesn’t work with Win 10. I would also like to note some sites are offering mis-information on how to resolve it.
But here’s their official response….”
Samsung Evo 970 not supported via Samsung Magician for TRIM. I want to use the TRIM function on my SSD's but i cannot because the samsung software that i'm trying to use says that it does not support RAPID mode? Or support this feature? If your SSD drive is still not getting recognized by the Samsung Magician utility, continue with the next method below. Method 4: Disabling RAID mode and switching to AHCI. As per various user reports, the issue might also occur if your system has RAID mode enabled from the BIOS settings. Once you've downloaded and installed Samsung Magician follow these steps: Open Samsung Magician. Ensure the supported drive is selected from the drop-down box. Change the Rapid Mode toggle to on. Click yes when the description message pops up. Once you're happy to restart the PC and apply Rapid.
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Samsung Support regarding your concerns and inquiries. We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing you.
Magician 4.7 is an intermediary release that contains support the 850 Pro and Evo 2 TB models, patch a secure erase issue, and adds the foundational features for Magician to work with Windows 10 . We do not have an official release date for the Magician and Data Migration to fully work with Windows 10 as of yet. It is extremely important that you do not use any older versions of our software with Windows 10. Do not use Rapid mode as we are still working on how to optimally take advantage of the new RAM management features built into 10. We genuinely appreciate your patience in this matter.
Thank you again for contacting Samsung Support and have a good day.
Well done Kelly!
Are you getting not desired speeds for your Samsung EVO SSD on Windows 10 and cannot perform Performance Optimization from Samsung Magician? Even If you enable the Rapid mode you’re still getting below 540MB/s Sequential Read and 521MB/s Write speed. This problem only occur on Windows 10 and works perfectly on the older version of Windows. Below are the instruction how to fixed this issue on Windows 10.
Requirements:
- Latest Samsung Magician Firmware 4.9.5 Above
- Update your Samsung EVO 840, 850 or pro to the latest Firmware Check Firmware Update from Samsung Magician.
- Enable RAPID Mode from Samsung Magician to your Primary SSD
Once the above requirement has been done, do the following step below:
